Alan Dodd is made redundant by North Devon Theatres Trust after two years in the role

North Devon Theatres Trust director Alan Dodd has been made redundant.

He took on the role in January 2014 after longstanding chief executive Alan Giddings stood down.

In a statement, the trust’s executive chairman Richard Purchase said in the current economic climate, trading was ‘becoming increasingly difficult with reducing levels of public subsidy’.

“Therefore, the board have implemented a root and branch review of the business plan in order to make sure we are trading in surplus and can increase our offering across North Devon.

“That has meant we’ve had to look at the skills and abilities of all staff across our organisations and with great regret, the post of director was made redundant.

“Alan Dodd has been a long and loyal servant to the theatres and the arts scene in North Devon.

“He was instrumental in the formation and development of the North Devon Festival and we know he will continue to be a massive supporter in the future.

“The board wish Alan every success.”
