Barnstaple’s Cinderella pantomime has sold a staggering 10,000 tickets at the Queen’s Theatre – prior to the show opening.

The response has seen some performances come close to selling out in advance of the curtain going up on December 10.

Coronation Street legend Amanda Barrie, Eurovision star Nicki French and Eastenders’ Jonny Labey head up a talented cast including the West End’s Will Peaco, panto favourite Jason Sutton, singing sensation Allan Jay, the hilarious Ian Jones and Barnstaple’s very own Kaia China-Sawyer.

Amanda Barrie said: “I’m so excited to hear that everyone in Barnstaple is getting their tickets to see the panto. It’s going to be the best yet!”

Nicki French playing the Wicked Stepmother said: “I’m looking forward to spending a 3rd Christmas in Barnstaple. Such a great theatre in a lovely town. If you haven’t got your tickets yet, get them quickly - you’ll have a wicked time.”

Theatre bosses say there are a number of reasons why Cinderella has been selling so fast. Manager Mark Farley said: “Firstly, it’s a great show. We’ve got a fantastic script and a fabulous cast so we know Barnstaple is in for a very special treat this Christmas.

“The Queen’s at Christmas is a very special place and panto always brings families together. It’s a real treat for us to see generations of families all out having a great time together.
