THE seven Lions Clubs of North Devon have joined forces to make a donation enabling a unique piece of furniture to be created for the Caroline Thorpe Children's Ward at North Devon District Hospital. The 1,800 donation has gone towards a mobile doctor's workstation, which was designed by Barnstaple paediatrician Dr Andrew Arend and is the only one of its kind in the hospital. The trolley-like desk can accompany doctors and staff as they visit their young patients, allow workspace for computers and writing and contains the patient's notes too."It is much easier to locate notes now and our other colleagues have found it very user friendly," explained ward manager Anita Chin."What is more, the notes are even placed in the order of where the children are around the ward."The Lions Clubs of Barnstaple, Lynton and Lynmouth, Ilfracombe, Bideford, Holsworthy, South Molton and Bude-Stratton all contributed to the donation.
