The town won gold for the five year running but also topped its category by winning the Preece Cup as well. Plus volunteer Barbara Clarke picked up the South West Tourism Salver for the best judges portfolio and Community Resources Devon was rated outstanding in the Its Your Neighbourhood Awards and took the Gordon Ford Trophy for the best community entry. Elsewhere, Berrynarbor in Bloom took gold, as did Clovelly, while Torrington was awarded a silver gilt. Ilfracombe chairman Ivan Frances said: Everybody pulled together and Ilfracombe looked absolutely amazing. One of the challenges we had this year was the weather, which meant watering every morning. One of the judges comments was the displays were fresh and well looked after. They also said they saw no dog pooh, graffiti, weeds or litter, Ilfracombe was absolutely spotless. Next Easter the town will once again fly its gold flag to show visitors its success.
