This year's theme was 'party like it's 1984' - and participants certainly brought that, with neon and leg warmers in abundance. This year's walk was sponsored by Slee Blackwell and entertainment along the way included fire performers, aerial artists and live music, as well as cut-outs of 80s icons and even the famous DeLorean car from Back to the Future. Organisers are hoping to raise more than £100,000 through Nightwalk but funds are still being totted up. Ali Hunt, head of fundraising at North Devon Hospice, said: "With this year's 1984 theme it was lovely to celebrate 35 years of providing hospice care here in North Devon. "The outfits and nostalgia reminded us all how much the world has changed in that time, and the hospice has also changed massively since then." Ali added: "We had a fantastic night and the feedback we've had from Nightwalkers has been heart-warming. "The evening is obviously a chance to have fun with over 1,000 other local ladies, but the reason why we are walking is never forgotten. "Many women taking part had first-hand experience of hospice care and every pound raised in sponsorship will help us provide this vital care to others in our community. "The need for North Devon Hospice's care is only going to rise, so we are grateful to everyone who stepped out on Saturday night in solidarity with the cause." As well as the headline sponsors, Nightwalk was also sponsored by Travel Chapter, Kingsley School, Affinity Devon, Thomas Westcott, Banburys and TDK Lambda. Ali said: ""While the walking is now done, the important work starts now, because Nightwalkers will be collecting up all their sponsorship and sending it in to the hospice. "That's when we'll know if we've hit the target. "Every pound really makes a difference, so we encourage all Nightwalkers to collect as much sponsorship as they can, because there are countless families who will need our care and support during the toughest of times."
