NORTH Devon firefighters twice went to the aid of women in distress yesterday (Friday).

At 7.16am a fire crew from Bideford was mobilised to a property in Brennacott Place to release a woman imprisoned in a bedroom by a faulty lock.

A woman walked into Barnstaple Fire Station at 10.16 am with a ring stuck on her finger. The crew on station removed it using a ring cutter.
