FIRE fighters across North Devon will be swapping hoses and ladders for buckets and sponges next Saturday (October 2) as they join the annual National Charity Car Wash.

Standing ready to extinguish the grime on the region's motors throughout the day in exchange for a donation will be Appledore, Barnstaple, Bideford Braunton, Chulmleigh, Hatherleigh, Holsworthy, Ilfracombe and Torrington stations.

The nationwide event is held to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity, which helps fire service personnel and their families through difficult times.

Motorists across North Devon are urged to drop in at their local, fire station this Saturday - and while their pride and joy is being scrubbed, it is an opportunity to pick up a little fire safety information too.
