As temperatures dropped around North Devon, fire crews received two reports of chimney fires in the area.

NORTH Devon fire fighters were called out to two separate chimney fires yesterday evening (Weds) as cold temperatures set in.

The first was in Oare near Lynton, where a crew found a fire in a chimney out on arrival at around 4.15pm.

Then at 6.45pm, a crew from Holsworthy attended another chimney fire report in Pyworthy.

Crews found the fire involved a wood burning stove and used chimney gear and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire within three hours.
