Specsavers have launched their annual competition to find the Spectacle Wearer of the Year.

Specs wearers across North Devon are being encouraged to enter the Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.

The nationwide competition raises funds for anti-bullying charity Kidscape, with £1 donated to the charity for each entry received.

Spectacle wearers can enter the competition by submitting a picture of themselves wearing glasses, or a ‘specs-selfie’ online.

The competition is split into five age categories, with winners from each receiving a VIP makeover and a chance to attend the awards ceremony in London, while the overal winner will receive £10,000 and an all-expenses trip to New York.

This year’s competition was launched by former Pussycat Doll, Kimberley Wyatt.

Jenny Shrubb, store director at Specsavers in Bideford said: “We want men and women of all ages to wear their specs with pride. The awards offer the perfect opportunity for glasses wearers in Bideford to showcase their specs style to the whole country.”

Bideford student Chloe Brown was named runner up of the competition in 2012.
