NORTH Devon Councillors will be asked to consider re-instating a �100,000 grant at a meeting today (Wednesday).

The council withdrew a �100,000 minor works grant to help disabled members of the public at a budget meeting in November.

Cllr Joe Tucker has tabled the "Notice of Motion" to be heard at today's full council meeting.

Cllr Tucker said there had been "little or no debate" on the subject: "The removal of this grant is causing great hardship to some of the most needy members of the community," he said.

"County and district officers involved in this field have lost a great deal of flexibility in managing the grant regime.

"I therefore request council to agree to the full reinstatement of this grant.
