The remaining North Devon Council staff are expected to leave the Civic Centre by the end of June, but they have left a legacy their office furniture. More than 30 local groups have so far benefited from various bits of furniture, which has been donated by the council. Almost 300 items, such as desks, chairs, cupboards and filing cabinets, have already been allocated to groups, including village halls, parish councils, charities, clubs and social enterprises. It follows an invitation from the council on Facebook and through its community e-newsletter, where not-for-profit groups were asked to get in contact if they needed any office equipment. There are still 300 pieces of furniture yet to find new homes and the council is working through its list of requests to match up as many items as possible. If groups still need items, email email@example.com.
