The people of Barnstaple and the surrounding areas will have the chance to view proposals for the new North Devon College when they go on show for the first time at a public exhibition next month (July 4/5).

Following an announcement by the National Council of the Learning and Skills Council, the new College will be the largest ever single infrastructure development to date for North Devon and Torridge with investment behind it of more than £100m.

Working alongside a number of agencies, the College will relocate from its current Sticklepath site to one chosen at Seven Brethren, which will put the College at the heart of the community, providing not just a state of the art education facility but somewhere all of Barnstaple can enjoy.

The target opening date is September 2011 and the exhibition is part of an extensive consultation process being undertaken through the summer before planning permission is requested in the autumn.

North Devon College invites all members of the public to view the new College proposals and pose questions to the planning and development team at Green Lanes Shopping Centre on Friday July 4 (between 9am and 5:30pm) and in the Henry Williamson Room at Barnstaple Library on Saturday, July 5 (from 10am to 4pm).
