Networking event was held at Castle Hill Estate in Filleigh.
CHARITIES from across North Devon came together at Castle Hill Estate in Filleigh for a ‘board talk’ event designed to help encourage networking.
North Devon Hospice, Torridge Community Transport, the Calvert Trust and North Devon Domestic Abuse were among those at the event.
The lunch was hosted by Jackie Dawkins of Shine Charity Recruitment, Michael White of Devon Square Partners and sponsors Charles Stanley Investment Services.
Jackie said the idea for the event came after the organisers realised there was a lack of networking opportunities for charities in the area.
She said: “The mix of charities at each of these events varies each time, presenting an invaluable opportunity to meet new people and make connections, which in turn can lead to collaboration.”
Tony Potter of the Calvert Trust, said he felt charities needed to co-operate, not compete.
“This type of event is a good opportunity to chat to other people and find out what they’re up to,” he said.
Sue Wallis from North Devon Domestic Abuse, added: “Local charities sometimes hunker down when funding is tight, so having the opportunity to talk about this at a local level is hugely useful.”
Board Talk is free to attend for charities. For information about the next session, contact Jackie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
