Poignant annual service will be held at St Brannock’s Church, Braunton, on Sunday (October 29)

North Devon's annual Baby Loss Remembrance Service will be held on Sunday (October 29) at St Brannock's Church in Braunton at 3pm.

The poignant service will be led by the chaplaincy at North Devon District Hospital in conjunction with North Devon Sands, a group that meets monthly to offer support and information to parents following the loss of a baby at any stage of pregnancy.

All families and friends are welcome to attend and people are invited to bring a single flower with them, which will then be joined into one big display to symbolise the togetherness of those who have experienced a similar heartache.

Reverend Julie Cartwright, head of spiritual care at Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, said: "Through this service we hope to help families who have lost a child and who often feel isolated and lonely in their grief.

"Through meeting with others who understand their feelings, support and hope is offered and families are helped.

"We are grateful to the Reverend Anne Thorne, and the people of St Brannock's for their welcome to us this year and look forward to meeting friends, both old and new. Everyone is very welcome, however old your baby, or how long ago your loss was."

This service is part of the commemorations for Baby Loss Awareness week, which is from October 9-15 this year.
