Community groups and businesses are invited to bid for a £25,000 cash pot to help keep North Devon unspoilt.
The North Devon Coast Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) small grant scheme is now open, with grants ranging form £500 to £5,000 and able to cover up to three quarters of project costs.
Last year, a range of projects were funded with grants averaging £1,800. These included: Braunton Burrows walks leaflets, Brownsham car park extension, habitats improvements at Croyde and restoring signposts around Hartland and Berrynarbor.
The Sustainable Development Fund is supported by Defra to help deliver the policies and initiatives in the AONB’s current management plan.
The scheme is now being administered by Laura Carolan, the new support and communications officer for the AONB.
She said: “We want to fund new projects from community groups, organisations or businesses that will benefit or improve the stunning natural beauty, wildlife or heritage of our special coastal landscape in the AONB.”
