Businesses and residents across North Devon and Torridge are being urged to be flood aware this winter. The Environment Agency has launches its annual #floodaware campaign. It is asking people to check their risk of flooding onits website, sign up for free flood warnings, and know what to when a flood does happen. Torridge Councillor Betty Boundy, lead member for emergency planning, said: I dont want people to worry unnecessarily about flooding but I really hope people will become more aware of the potential problems and sign up for the alert services. This alone should mean we are better prepared for any eventuality and there is also information on other simple precautions people can take to minimise any risk. Sign up for flood warnings by calling Floodline on 0345 988 1188 or by visiting the www.gov.uk/sign-up-for-flood-warnings website.
