Bideford’s Sam West has returned on Saturday to tackle the 2019 Ninja Warrior UK course after his amazing 2018 debut.

On Saturday (April 27), ITV viewers saw the 19-year-old competently deal with the challenging obstacle course, following on from last year which saw him reach the final.

Sam was no slouch as he made short work of obstacles including the Floating Steps, the Escalator balance test, trapeze swing with parallel pipes and then the tricky Sky Hooks challenge before running straight up the four metre high Warped Wall.

During his interview with presenter Ben Shephard at the end, viewers heard how Sam had set up a Ninja Warrior-type frame in his back garden to practise on.

This year he is keen to prove reaching the final last year was not a fluke and said: "I want it, I really want to win, I want to take it to the next step, I want to take it up there [pointing at the Mount Midoriyama challenge no one has yet reached]."
