Local Labour spokesman Mark Cann said: “It is really important that we mark this anniversary here in North Devon.
“With the constant threat to our local hospital services, this is a timely reminder of how much we value what the NHS does.
“Today is an opportunity to say thank you to all the great staff at NDDH, our local hospitals, our GP practices and all those working to maintain our NHS. It is also a day to remind everyone how important it is that we fight to preserve the NHS as a public service.
“The NHS is Labour’s proudest achievement. We cherish the way it puts people first and supports us at every stage of our lives, but we need to work together to ensure it serves us for generations to come.”
