NORTH Devon Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Philip Milton has called on local farmers or anyone concerned about the region's countryside to have their say on a new Conservative initiative.

Future Countryside www.futurecountryside.com is a website providing a forum to explore issues in four areas: Food and Farming, Biodiversity and Conservation, A Changing Environment and Resources and Regulation.

It has just been launched by Nick Herbert MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Conservatives say they hope to use it to gain a better view of environmental and agricultural policy, which will help them if they are successful at the next General Election.

"I would encourage local farmers, wildlife groups and any of my constituents who feel strongly about agricultural and environmental issues to log onto Future Countryside and have their say, said Mr Milton.

"If we win the next election we want to be a government that listens and by getting onto Future Countryside and telling us what matters to them on rural issues, my constituents can help us do that.
