A new website has launched today (Wednesday) to boost tourism in North Devon. The new website www.northdevon.com has paid for entirely by North Devon and Exmoor buisnesses. It showcases the beauty of the area and has been launched by the newly re-formed North Devon Marketing Bureau. Chairman Trevor Stanbury said people had dug deeply into their pockets to get the website up and running. We are the David against the Goliaths in the tourism industry, he said. Without the support of hundreds of businesses we would never have got this initiative off the ground. Holidaymakers research their destination in lots of different ways before making the final decision about where to visit and expect to find a website with information on their chosen destination. Mr Stanbury said choosing images for the site had made members of the bureau really appreciate the variety and beauty of North Devon. Ben Duhig, managing director of Blue Soup Communications, who designed the new site, said: We were delighted to be asked to develop the design for the new North Devon website and are immensely proud of the work. We believe the site celebrates the amazing diversity of the area and hope it will encourage holidaymakers to the region.
