MORE than 240 new jobs are on offer in Bideford as Asda prepares for the opening of its new store in Clovelly Road in June.Asda is working closely with Bideford Jobcentre Plus to fill the posts. The first vacancies will be in administration, personnel, the cash office, bakers and an events co-ordinator. They are being advertised from this week and a further range of vacancies in all departments will be available on a staggered basis from mid-March.Chris Tilly, store manager for Asda, said the 29,000 sq ft store would be one of Asda's smaller stores, but would include a good range of products and services, including clothing and non-food products, a servery for pizzas and curries and a customer restaurant.Staff were being recruited now to allow for a training period before the store opening. "Staff from Jobcentre Plus have been a great support in getting our recruitment under way," he said.Sahara Barton, Jobcentre Plus recruitment adviser said: "Asda has signed a Local Employment Partnership agreement with Jobcentre Plus. These bring together employers and untapped potential in the labour market and are about creating sustainable employment.
