SOUTH Molton's new police station was officially opened by Devon and Cornwall Police Chief Constable Stephen Otter, on Thursday.The former Infant school in New Road has been completely refurbished and provides a smart new base for what is now the town's largest policing team for many years.A new intake of officers is now working alongside the existing team boosting the staff total to six response officers, two neighbourhood beat mangers and three PCSOs."The new station and extra officers will benefit the community significantly," said Sergeant David Williams, neighbourhood team leader for South Molton.PC Graham James is the new town centre beat manager backed by PCSO Paul Whitehouse. PC Julie Bradshaw will take charge of patrolling rural areas with the support of PCSOs Mike Livett and Jerzy Rozputynski.PC Mark Watson joins the team as a response officer.The station will be open 8.30am-5.30pm, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 1-6.30pm Wednesday; and 8.30am-2.30pm on Fridays. The station closes between 1pm and 2pm on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays.
