A new opticians has opened in Barnstaple’s Sainsbury’s store.

The Specsaver store will complements the existing opticians in Gammon Walk and was officially opened by deputy Barnstaple mayor Ian Roome.

Councillor Roome was given a guided tour of the new facilites and introduced to the new team.

He said: “I am delighted to join staff and customers to officially open this new store.

“It’s great to see a local business expanding and creating more jobs for the community and I’m sure this new location will help customers access the expert eye care they need.”

Hannow Mahmood, one of the store directors, added: “We’re delighted to open this new store here at the Gratton Way Sainsburys.

“It’s another opportunity for shoppers to bring together the ease of a weekly shop while ensuring their eye health is up to date. The team and I look forward to welcoming you.”
