LIFE AT A BARNSTAPLE primary school is being transformed by a new building development.The £1.7 million project at Ashleigh Church of England Primary has provided a new hall, community room, classroom, playground and ancilliary facilities.It will be officially opened on Friday by the chairman of Devon County Council, Cllr John Rawlinson.Head teacher Mark Henderson said the new buildings had fostered a real sense of pride in the children and staff."The results have started to transform our school," he said. "We now have a modern, multi-purpose hall and kitchen, a good sized, flat playground, a welcoming foyer and enhanced office and reception, improved visitors' entrance and parking, a light and bright nursery classroom and a well used community room that offers a range of services to our families and community." In its last Ofsted report Ashleigh won high praise from education inspectors, who said every area of school life was good or better.
