Bideford Bay Creatives launches new projects and hopes people will join in the various workshops around the area.

A new project launching in Bideford this month is set to tell the tales of the River Torridge’s heritage and natural beauty.

Bideford Bay Creatives (BBC) is running a series of workshops from June to October to highlight the ‘Tales of the Riverbank’.

This is the first event of its kind the group has run, leading up to its Culture Show in August and September throughout Bideford.

Projects include historical walks, craft workshops, children’s activities and poetry and prose writing.

BBC chairman Sadie Green said: “The idea just came about from a committee meeting.

“We hope it will appeal to everyone; some workshops are about its natural beauty, some about history, others are very arty.

“There is a nice mix of events for everyone – both visitors to the town and Bidefordians.

“We want to make art accessible for everyone, even those who are not ‘arty’ types.”

Bideford Bay Creatives is a not-for-profit group and was launched in 2009. Up until recently it had a small membership fee.

Sadie added: “This is a great way to show the community we are open and here for everyone.”
