A NEW horticulture project Grow@Jigsaw has been launched in Bideford to help disabled and disadvantaged people.Community Projects North Devon has signed a long lease with Torridge District Council to take responsibility for the greenhouses in Victoria Park, Bideford.Supported by Safer North Devon, Bideford Bridge Trust and Bideford Town Council, it will initially renovate and reglaze one greenhouse and provide training opportunities. The opportunities will replicate those currently offered by the Jigsaw Furniture Project in Barnstaple, allowing people to engage in real work training activities. CPND's director, Bill Allen said: "This opportunity first became available some two years ago and we have worked hard with our colleagues at the local authority to allow the use of these derelict greenhouses for community benefit. We are delighted to have the lease and the initial funding to bring the site back into use. We will work hard over the next 12 months with new and existing partners to expand our services and provide real opportunity and benefit within this community."Jigsaw will be carrying out initial site clearance with the aid of a team of volunteers this Wednesday.CPND can be contacted on 01271 322013, or bill@cpnd.org
