New priest is no stranger to North Devon

THE new priest in charge of Holy Trinity Church, Ilfracombe, will feel quite at home when he takes up his appointment in January.
Fr Robert Harris, aged 52, was born at North Devon Infirmary and brought up in Braunton, where his father, Ken, owned Central Garage.
His mother, Ruth, worked at the chemists.
Currently, he is Rector of Southwick in the diocese of Chichester and acting Rural Dean of Hove.

He and his wife, Christine, have three children, all in their twenties. They both have sisters still living in Devon.
Fr Robert, who was ordained in 1982, said it had always been his intention to contribute to the spiritual life of North Devon, which helped shape his own life and faith.

His appointment was announced to the Holy Trinity congregation on Sunday.
Fr Robert will also be priest in charge of St Peter, Ilfracombe, and St Peter's, Bittadon.
