New home for 20ft photo

A panoramic composition of Bideford has found a new home in a busy shopping centre.

A 20ft image of Bideford Quay was positioned in its new home in Atlantic Village on Friday for all to enjoy.

The composite photo, taken by Graham Hobbs, was previously housed in the Caf du Parc in the Burton Art Gallery, but was removed when it was redecorated.

Cllr Phil Pester, who secured the original home for the photo that belongs to Bideford Town Council, stored the broken-down image in his garage temporarily.

But Cllr Pester, along with Paul Naisbett of Atlantic Village, provided the photo with a prominent position in the main area of the shopping centre.

Mr Hobbs and Cllr Pester put the photo back together in the function room of the Bideford Conservative Club, and it was transported by Doug Bushby using the Bideford Amateur Rowing Clubs Boat trailer.

Mr Hobbs said: “Many thanks to all who contributed to the move; in its present position it forms a great advert for Bideford and hopefully will increase the town’s footfall of visitors.”
