The Gazette took a walk over the brand new footbridge at Roundswell before it opens to the public this afternoon (Friday).

A brand new footbridge over the North Devon Link Road is opening today (Friday).

It's taken eight months of construction but the bridge over the A39 at Roundswell will open this afternoon.

It cost £2.7million to build, and was successfully craned into place despite some delays from a lightning storm.

Now the bridge over the Link Road is open for cyclists and pedestrians to enjoy, including a new pathway through the fields either side.

Currently dubbed the 'bridge to nowhere', there are plans to develop the land either side of the footbridge.
