A busy programme of art exhibitions kicks off on Monday at North Devon College's School of Art at Pottington Business Park in Barnstaple.

The school's Goodwin Gallery begins a new season of artwork with a public exhibition of paintings by David Cowper, whose work embraces notions of energy, fragmentation and memory, all painted on unusual surfaces.

Later exhibitions include work by visiting artists such as the photographer Tash Quarmby, plus college staff and students whose work reflects interests in illustration, fine art and ceramics.

There will also be specialist exhibitions involving young people from the Art School's Saturday classes and Aim Higher programmes.
