THE finishing touches are being put to an eclectic exhibition of affordable art before it opens at the Appledore Gallery on Saturday, July 17.

The event runs until July 31 and features a selection of Square Pictures from the members of North Devon Arts, on the theme of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The gallery has been at Bude Street in Appledore for 23 years, but was refurbished by new owner and artist Wendy Chiles, who wanted to make it as welcoming as possible.

"We are definitely not one of those unapproachable elitist, white cube galleries - instead we have a friendly domestic setting where visitors can visualise a painting in their own homes," she said.
