PLANS for a new clubhouse for Bideford Cricket Club come before Torridge District Council's planning committee today (Thursday).

The club is proposing to replace its existing clubhouse with a new one, with verandah, and a greenkeeper's storage unit.

Agents for the applicants describe the current building as unattractive and say the proposed replacement is intended to sit more comfortably on the site and present itself as a "village green pavilion."

Northam Town Council has recommended approval, but believes the club should consider including energy and water saving features into the construction.

The planning committee is being recommended to approve the application on the basis that the proposal is acceptably designed, not impacting unreasonably on other nearby properties.
