The Courtyard in Market Street is officially launching its steak-based evening menu with charity evening on Friday.

A brand new restaurant and cafe will be officially launching in Barnstaple with a charity evening on Friday.

The Courtyard, in Market Street, was opened by brand new owner Hilary Gilham in February after months of closure and a complete refurbishment.

Hilary, who also runs Cafecinos in the Pannier Market, has chosen to launch her new venture by choosing Over and Above as her chosen charity for the year.

The charity has raised £110,000 towards equipment for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) but still needs to hit its £250,000 target.

Ian Roome, fundraising manager, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Hilary and all the staff at The Courtyard are supporting the SCBU appeal by naming us as their charity of the year.

"Their support will help us support many premature babies who need our help at such a vulnerable time in their lives."

Hilary added: "Many of our customers and their babies have benefitted from the extra special care for their newborn babies and now we have events planned through the year to support the appeal."

On Friday, The Courtyard will hold its Grand Opening Evening to introduce its new Thursday, Friday and Saturday night service, based on a steak.

The evening will run from 5pm-7pm with free prosecco and nibbles.

The second event will be a quiz night on May 5 with a three-course meal. Tickets cost £20 per head with £5 from each to the appeal.
