A planning application for the bargain retailer has been submitted to Torridge District Council (TDC). If successful, the new 25,000 sq ft B&M store would be built opposite Asda in Clovelly Road and would create up to 40 new jobs. The store would also house a 7,500 sq ft garden centre and a car park with 96 spaces. In a planning statement, agents DPP Planning said: It is proposed that the retail unit will be occupied by B&M who are one of the leading variety etailers in the UK. The B&M offer will be one of its Homestores. The statement continues: The application site is currently vacant. As it stands, therefore, the site contributes nothing positive to the economy of Bideford. In sharp contrast, the sites redevelopment will create 40 new employment opportunities in the operation of the B&M store.
