THE Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon is urging local people to share their memories and photographs on a new community website. www.explorenorthdevon.org is an online archive that contains a mixture of archive news, stories, photos and videos of local people, buildings and events in northern Devon throughout the ages. The site is a partnership between North Devon Council's Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon and Devon County Council's North Devon Record Office.Designed as a research facility for schools, local history societies, community groups and museums the site gives access to a vast selection of local history information in a variety of media. It also allows users to upload their own photos and memories.A number of collections of photographs held by museums in the area have just been added to the Explore North Devon website, including those from Great Torrington, Braunton, Ilfracombe and, South Molton museums, North Devon Maritime Museum and The Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon.Local groups or individuals who would like to get involved in developing the content of the website can contact Julian Vayne at the Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon on 01271 346747 or Emma Waldron at the North Devon Record Office on 01271 388608, email emmakwaldron@aol.com.
