DEVELOPERS are putting plans on view for one of the biggest new building projects in the Northam area for many years.
The multi-million pound proposals by locally-based LTPH Properties Ltd are for a "marina village" of leisure facilities, homes and residential care on the riverside Knapp Farm site between Northam and Appledore.
They include a marina with up 150 berths, a 70-bed hotel with restaurant, a 60-bed care home, mix of 500 homes, a community centre and a small foodstore. There could also be the possibility of a medical centre and pharmacy.
Two public exhibitions to outline the proposals are being held on July 11, at the Blue Lights Hall in Appledore from 10am to 12 noon and at St George's School in Northam from 2pm to 4pm.

Ian Thorn, speaking on behalf of LTPH Properties Ltd, said: "LTPH Properties Ltd is keen to consult local residents before submitting a planning application. This will be an opportunity for local residents to share ideas and help shape the proposal.
"The marina village is an exciting development which will bring new facilities and jobs to the Torridge estuary area, boosting the local economy.

"The exhibition is designed to engage with the community and we are keen to hear the views of local residents."
Appledore ward town councillor Peter Hames feels these venues are not within easy reach of the residents most likely to be affected, so he is asking the developer's representative whether a nearer venue could also be used, such as Windmill Lane Council Offices, Northam Hall or Northam Community Centre.
