NORTH Devon MP Nick Harvey is meeting senior Post Office officials today (Wednesday) to discuss the future of rural Post Offices in North Devon.Mr Harvey is set to raise local concerns over proposals for the area with Post Office network development manager Tim Nickolls and programme planning manager Neil Corrick. He said he would also raise local concerns over the implications for service provisions, particularly where post offices have been earmarked for outreach services."Post offices fulfil a vital community role in North Devon as well as providing essential services," said Mr Harvey. "The reductions in opening hours and availability will be felt keenly by many in the area. "I am pleased to have this opportunity to discuss the implications of the changes with Post Office Ltd and to feed in to the local consultation process. "I believe the case for some of the closures is more understandable than others. I will be pressing the case of those I think make the least sense."It remains vital that people's concerns are heard and I would urge you to have your say in the process if you haven't already done so."n ANYONE wanting to give their views about the future of the postal services, can write to Tim Nickolls, Network Development Manager, C/O National Consultation Team, FREEPOST CONSULTATION TEAM.
