GEOFFREY Cox, MP for Torridge and West Devon is encouraging people to attend a Coppicing & Wood Fuel Summit 2009", which he is hosting with Shadow Minister for Climate Change, Gregory Barker. The event aims to explore the potential role for woodlands in the UK to undergo a renaissance in biodiversity as part of a strategy to tackle climate Change. Guests will also be able to listen to a variety of speakers, and take part in break-out sessions to explore the practical aspects of installing domestic and commercial biomass systems, building local supply chains, and to investigate the potential of managing existing woodland or planting new coppice. Geoffrey Cox said: "This event will be a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in biodiversity and wood fuel to get involved, improve their knowledge or contribute to the formation of policy in this important area. There are some excellent speakers lined up and I hope as many local people as possible will take the opportunity to learn about one significant way in which we can tackle global warming". The event will take place on May 5 from 9am - 12:45pm, at Roadford Lake, Okehampton. Light refreshments will be provided.
