A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision on the A39 near Lynton.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called out yesterday (Saturday, May 11) at 4.20pm after a collision between a motorcycle and a car on the A39 adjacent to Wingate Farm.

The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old man from Minehead sustained fatal injuries.

He was given CPR by members of the public and an off-duty nurse, but was pronounced dead at the scene by the attending air ambulance doctor.

The driver of the car was uninjured in the collision.

Police closed the A39 for five hours while forensic examinations at the scene were carried out.

The road was reopened again at 9.55pm.

Officers from the roads policing team and serious collision investigation team are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
