Road closed for eight hours and two people taken into custody after collision at Sticklepath which killed 20-year-old Barnstaple man.

A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Barnstaple yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

Emergency services were called to the incident on the A361 at the Sticklepath roundabout shortly before 3pm.

They were unable to resuscitate the 20-year-old man from Barnstaple, who was riding a green Kawasaki motorcycle, following the collision with a silver Ford Focus.

A 28-year-old woman from Hampshire and a 32-year-old man from Surrey were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The woman was also arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit.

Both were taken to Barnstaple police station. The man was released without charge while the woman was released on bail until October 22.

The road was closed for around eight hours while a full forensic examination of the scene was carried out.

The roundabout reopened at 11pm.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen both vehicles prior to the collision.
