A 64-year-old man died and a teenage girl was injured in a crash on the A3124 near Beaford on Saturday

A motorcyclist has died and a teenager has been airlifted to hospital after a collision on the A3124 near Beaford.

It happened at 3.11pm yesterday (Saturday) when a white Volvo C30 car travelling from the direction of Beaford towards Torrington collided with a Triumph Boneville 865 motorcycle.

Police said the 64-year-old man on the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. He was from the Tedburn St Mary area.

The woman driving the Volvo and a 13-year-old girl in the back seat were taken to North Devon District Hospital with minor injuries.

Another 13-year-old girl who was a passenger in the front seat was airlifted to Bristol Royal Infirmary where her injuries are not thought to be life threatening or changing.

Officers from the Serious Collisions unit and Roads Policing Team attended the scene.
