Police are diverting traffic after a collision between Beach Road and Sandymere Road this morning (Wednesday).
A motorcyclist has been flown to hospital following a collision in Westward Ho! this morning (Wednesday).
Golf Links Road is currently closed after the collision between a Citroen Berlingo van and a BMW motorcycle at around 11.30am.
Police, fire and ambulance services are on the scene, and the air ambulance had landed nearby.
It is understood the motorcyclist, who was airlifted to Derriford Hospital, has pelvic injuries and was concious and breathing at the scene.
A police spokeswoman confirmed the man’s injuries were not life-threatening or life-changing.
Two fire engines from Bideford attended the scene and assisted paramedics with removing the motorcyclist from the van’s bonnet and windscreen.
A spokesman said: “The motorcyclist was removed from the vehicle and crews assisted the casualty onto a spinal board, then into an air ambulance to be conveyed to hospital.
“Duty of care was then left with police and ambulance.”
The collision occurred at the junction with Beach Road, and the road remains shut. It is understood it should open shortly, once recovery has taken place.
Police are directing traffic, which is affecting Beach Road in both directions, between Golf Links Road and Atlantic Way.
