THEY'RE used to providing the wheels that get North Devon folk moving; but three local motor dealerships have stepped in to help people with disabilities to get around the town centre more easily.
Roundswell Toyota, Hyundai and the newly-opened Fiat franchise have sponsored three of the 17 mobility scooters that Go North Devon lends to shoppers in Barnstaple.
The charity, the only Shopmobility facility in North Devon, has around 2,500 members including local people as well as those visiting the area.
"Fund-raising to keep the Shopmobility service running has been extremely challenging this year so this generous support really does make a huge difference in keeping our aging fleet of mobility scooters on the go," said manager Sharon Lynch.

"The service enables our clients to retain their independence at a time in their lives when the loan of a scooter is a necessity, not a luxury, to get around the town."
Dealer principal Dan Tregaskes, said: "It is a fantastic opportunity to support a local charity such as this in addition to the service we offer to our mobility customers, keeping them mobile."
