SIR - I also saw the circular bright orange lights (Yours Sincerely, June 3), just slightly earlier.
Living where I do in Braunton, they appeared to come over the sea and Saunton sand dunes towards the village.
They were travelling quite slowly about 30 seconds apart at a fairly low trajectory. When they were over the village, they did a 90-degree turn towards Northam. It was a still night and totally silent. It would be interesting to get an explanation.

t about 10.45pm. As we crossed the new Bideford Bridge from Barnstaple on our way home to Bideford, they were almost above us and did not seem to be moving.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The Gazette carried similar stories last year about orange lights in the sky and it was concluded that they were probably Chinese lanterns released at a party or wedding reception. Any other explanations?
