Monkleigh Primary School has taken delivery of a brand new minibus yesterday (Friday, April 26).
The Friends of Monkleigh School (FOMS) have spent months fundraising £6,000 to purchase the bus.
They bought it from the Bideford Blues club, who received funding for a new bus and had previously lent this one to the school when needed.
Lynette Mayo, FOMS chairman, said: “We've had bake sales, bingo, all sorts of fundraising, as well as an Aviva community grant of £2,500 and funding from the parish council.
“We're also really grateful to all of our sponsors and to the parents who supported the fundraising efforts.”
Headteacher Karen Reeves added: “I've worked here for 11 years and something I always said was that I wanted for the school was to have its own minibus.
“Everyone came together and that's what Monkleigh is, we're a small school and like one big family.”
The bus has already been booked up for a number of trips to sporting events.
It is sponsored by: Monkleigh Garage, S.M. Reeves, TP Trust Preservation, Mayo Media, Gifford Accounts and F. Heards Quality Meats.
