A 17-year-old boy with a mental age of three who went missing in the Eggesford area on Saturday evening was found safe and well on a sandbank in the middle of the River Taw at midday yesterday (Sunday).A big search was launched when the autistic boy ran away from his carers while out walking along a path which follows the Taw.Police with dogs, divers and moor rescue teams were all called in to scour the area. He was eventually found after 18 hours by the police helicopter and reunited with his father.
