Mayor's ball raises �2,000

GUESTS at this year's annual Mayor's Charity Ball in Barnstaple were shaken and stirred into donating more than �2,000 to a good cause.Profits raised at the James Bond-inspired 'Casino Mayorale' evening at the Barnstaple Hotel will go to Cllr Jeremy Phillips' chosen charity, the Barnstaple Stroke Support Group.The event featured casino tables, a silent auction, raffle and live music by Dej� Blue Jazz, with dancing to the Stay Lucky band.Cllr Phillips, said: "It was a wonderful evening despite the earlier worries about the weather. "I am so grateful to everyone who supported the event and to the local businesses and individuals who provided auction items and raffle prizes which allowed us to raise so much money for a very worthwhile local charity".
