THE next Mayor of Ilfracombe will be Councillor Philip Webb, with Cllr Bob Thompson as deputy mayor.No election was necessary at a meeting of the town council on Monday as only the two nominees were put forward for the respective roles.Mr Webb is a former Ilfracombe hotelier and has worked to promote the town as part of its Tourism Association. Mr Thompson will be known to many after teaching at Ilfracombe College for many years and is also a keen supporter of the Ilfracombe Lifeboat and president of the Pilot Gig Club.The pair will take over the reins from current Mayor Geoff Fowler and deputy Frank Pearson in May.
