Pilton’s Masala Indian Kitchen is hoping for another bite of the awards pie after being nominated as the best takeaway in the country.
The Barnstaple business will be rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in the industry at the British Restaurant Awards in London on Thursday (May 24).
The glittering ceremony at the Porchester will be attended by celebrity chefs such as Gino D’Acampo, Gordon Ramsey, Jamie Oliver and Heston Blumenthal.
Masala is the only South West takeaway in the shortlist, after being nominated through customer votes.
It is owned by the Rahman family and brothers Monz, Mahmoud and Mamoun are hoping to defend the title after winning last year.
Monz said: “Clearly we are doing something right. The only reason we can get to these awards is because our customers vote for us and we appreciate all the feedback, help and support we get from them.
“We do it for the customers and that’s what drives us – even if we did not get the awards we would still put in the hard work and effort.
“Regardless if we win or not, we are happy to be recognised in what we do.”
