Market dance is a Thriller

HALLOWE’EN came early to Barnstaple when a group of zombies met to shake their stuff in the pannier market on Saturday night.

A total of 23 ghoulish characters turned out to recreate Michael Jackson’s iconic Thriller dance, one of around 180 simultaneous ‘Thrill the World’ events taking place at the same time in towns and cities around the world.

The stunts have been taking place annually since 2006, with participants hoping to set a new Guinness World Record for the most people performing the popular dance at the same time.

The second annual Barnstaple event was held to raise money for North Devon District Hospital’s Chemotherapy Appeal.

This year’s efforts have already generated more than 300 and the total is set to grow once final sponsorship amounts are known.
